Ronald S. Deutsch
Holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from the University of Maryland (B.A. 1979), a law degree from The National Law Center, George Washington University, (J.D. 1982) and a Masters in Taxation Law also from The National Law Center, George Washington University (LL.M 1985). He concentrates his practice in the areas of mortgage foreclosures, secured transactions, real estate, tax sales, bankruptcy and general creditor’ rights. He is A-V rated with Martindale-Hubbell and currently represents numerous lenders, loan servicers and REO companies. Ronald is licensed to practice in Maryland, Virginia, the District of Columbia and New York. He is also licensed to practice before the United States Tax Court and the United States District Courts for the District of Columbia and Maryland.
Ronald is the former Chair of the Real Property Section of the Maryland State Bar Association and the former Chair of its Foreclosure Committee. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the USFN and REOMAC (REO Managers Association) and was inducted as a lifetime fellow of the Maryland Bar Foundation. He is also a former member of the Regulatory Committee of the Mortgage Bankers Association of America. Mr. Deutsch served on Governor Martin O’Malley’s Maryland Homeownership Preservation Task Force – Legal and Regulatory Reform Work Committee, which was established to rewrite Maryland’s foreclosure law. He also served as the Chairman of the Publications Committee of the USFN and is a member of the ALFN. Mr. Deutsch recently received the Outstanding Practitioner’s Award by The Real Estate Section of the Maryland State Bar Association. This award is given annually to a Maryland real estate attorney who best exemplifies the experience, client service, technical skill, integrity, collegiality and courtesy that all real estate lawyers strive for in their professional lives. He additionally has been selected for inclusion in the 21st Edition of the Best Lawyers in America, Best Lawyers of Maryland and as a Super Lawyer.
Mr. Deutsch obtained a nationally recognized reported decision in Island Financial v. Ballman, 607 A.2d 76 (1992), which recognized the due process rights of second trust holders to notice and changed the method of conducting foreclosure sales. He has been published dozens of times in various industry publications. In addition to lecturing at the University of Maryland, Montgomery College, and the PDI Institute, Mr. Deutsch is a frequent speaker at industry events. He also co-authored the District of Columbia chapter in the National Mortgage Servicer’s Reference Directory 23-34th Editions and co-authored Maryland Foreclosure and Repossession, National Business Institute. More recently, he served as co-author and co-editor of Gordon’s on Maryland Foreclosures, 5th Edition.
Richard E. Solomon
Holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Maryland (B.S. 1987) and his Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Baltimore (J.D. 1991) for which he served as a member of its Law Review. He concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate, bankruptcy, and foreclosures, as well as collections. He is admitted to practice before the Court of Appeals of Maryland, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia and the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. He has spent over thirty years as a creditor’s rights attorney in Maryland and the District of Columbia, exclusively in the default servicing industry, and is A-V rated with Martindale-Hubbell.
In that time, Richard has transitioned from associate to managing partner, and now supervises the firm’s foreclosure, litigation, bankruptcy, eviction, and loss mitigation practices. He was instrumental in improving the firm’s policies and procedures, as well as the implementation of technology to better, and more efficiently, serve the needs of the firm’s clients. He has co-authored the District of Columbia Chapter for the National Mortgage Servicer’s Reference Directory, 23-34th Editions, has been published in numerous industry trade publications, co-authored Chapters 2 and 4 of the re-write of Gordon on Maryland Foreclosures, 5th Ed., and has previously served as the Southeast Regional coordinator for the ALFN Title Committee. He has served on the Peer Review Committee of the Maryland Attorney Grievance Commission since 2016.
Richard has been actively involved in coordinating with the Maryland foreclosure bar in lobbying efforts on behalf of the mortgage servicing industry, as well as new legislation, rules and regulations affecting the industry. He has led the firm’s quality assurance program for several years, and has made it a personal mission to ensure that the firm is a leader in the ethical, but zealous, representation of the firm’s default servicing clients.
Richard J. Rogers
Holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Maryland (B.S. 1976) and a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Baltimore (J.D. 1979). He is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and the District of Columbia Bar Association. Mr. Rogers concentrates his practice in the areas of creditor’s rights; bankruptcy and litigation. He has been handling consumer and commercial collections for over 40 years and has been representing creditors in foreclosure and bankruptcy in excess of 30 years. He is a founding member and served a number of terms on the executive counsel of the Consumer Bankruptcy Bar of the Maryland State Bar Association and worked to make sure the section was even handed and represented the interest of all sides; debtors, creditors and trustees. He has been a member of a number of Rules Committees as well as been involved in a number of reported decisions.
Michael J. McKeefery
Holds a Bachelor of the Arts Degree from the College of William and Mary (B.A. 2003) and a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Maryland School of Law (J.D. 2007). He is admitted to practice before the Court of Appeals of Maryland, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland and the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. Michael clerked for the Honorable Susan Souder in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County, Maryland. He currently concentrates his legal practice in the areas of creditor’s rights, real estate, litigation, foreclosure, mediation, eviction, and unsecured collections. Michael has authored and co-authored numerous articles regarding creditor’s rights and default services, including “Only the HAF of It: Administration of Funds Vary State to State” and “Weathering the Storm: How Mortgage Servicers and Default Firms can Work Together to Survive COVID-19 Moratoria.” He has also co-authored two chapters of Gordon’s on Foreclosure, the seminal Maryland foreclosure text, and is a current member of the Legal Issues Committee for the United States Foreclosure Network (USFN).
Christianna J. Kersey
Holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Delaware (B.S. 2006) and a Juris Doctor from Widener University School of Law in Wilmington, Delaware (J.D. 2010). Christianna is admitted to practice before the Court of Appeals of Maryland, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland and the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. She concentrates her practice in the area of creditor’s rights, real estate, litigation, foreclosure, eviction and unsecured collections. Christianna also handles compliance related issues for Cohn, Goldberg & Deutsch, LLC. Ms. Kersey has written articles for numerous industry related publications, co-authored the re-write of Gordon’s on Maryland Foreclosures and is a frequent speaker at industry events. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for USFN, is Co-Chair of the USFN’s Education Committee and is Board Liaison for the USFN Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.
Kyle Blackstone
Holds a Bachelor of the Arts Degree from the University of Michigan (B.A. 1997) and a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law (J.D. 2004). He is admitted to practice before the Court of Appeals of Maryland and the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. He has over 15 years of experience in real estate law and currently concentrates his practice in title review, real estate residential and commercial settlements, foreclosure, mediation and unsecured collections.
Jason Murphy
Holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from West Virginia University (B.A. 1996) and his Juris Doctor magna cum laude from Michigan State University College of Law (J.D. 2000) where he served as an editor on the School’s Medical-Legal Journal. He is admitted to practice in Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia, and West Virginia. He is also admitted to practice before The United States Supreme Court, The United States 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, The United States District Court of Virginia, Eastern District, The United States District Court of Virginia, Western District, The United States Bankruptcy Court of Virginia, Eastern District, The United States Bankruptcy Court of Virginia, Western District. The United States District Court of Maryland, The United States District Court of West Virginia, Southern District, and The United States District Court of West Virginia, Northern District.
Mr. Murphy has over twenty years of legal experience and concentrates his practice in the areas of creditors rights, foreclosure, real estate litigation, commercial litigation, title-curative litigation, and bankruptcy. Mr. Murphy also has extensive experience practicing in the areas of insurance defense litigation, construction defect litigation, and defense of catastrophic injuries.
John Ansell
John holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland and Juris Doctor from Pitt Law (the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, 2001). He is admitted in all courts in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Virginia as well as the United States District Court’s for Maryland and the District of Columbia. John has over twenty years of experience in virtually every facet of real estate law and litigation, title and title litigation, creditor’s rights, foreclosure and default, bankruptcy, and real estate settlements. John has presented at numerous industry conferences and written numerous articles for industry publications. John is also a member of Legislative Committee of the Maryland Land Title Association.
